GUY TORRY
STAY TUNED FOR GUY TORRY'S ACTING REEL
My BIG SCREEN debut. They Wayans family have always been nothing but great to me. this was my first acting job on film and man I couldn't wait to do another film. This will always be dope to me. It got the ball rolling. Once you're bit by the BIG SCREEN bug, you're infected and you want more. Salute to the Wayans.
I started out with maybe 2-3 lines in this film and talked and joked my way into more. I was heckling and joking so much they started adding me to other scenes and allowed me to be me. I was a heckler in this film and that fit right in my bag. I had also written the episode of Martin that aired and couldn't make the taping because I was on set here.
Although I was cut out of the film. Not do to acting but for the UNCLEARED Lakers jersey wardrobe put on me, I still list this movie because I had some great and funny scenes with Greg Kinear and Matt Damon. It was truly the shit. working with these two great talents. They were cool and giving as actors. Man I wish I wasn't cut out.
This was the film that said, "HELLO HOLLYWOOD, I'M MF GUY TORRY AND YOU BETTER SEE ME!" I can't even start to tell the many stories about this production. But working with the great ED Norton was a blessing and a curse. This film was dope.
"What's up my brothers?" This was my "thing" in the film and they let me ride with it. Working with this cast was fun. They were talented. The greats Deion Richmond, Donald Fazion as well as Mia Campbell were fun to collaborate with was cool AF. David Rayner, the director let us be us which made this film classic.
This was a great group actually. ONYX, Lady Of Rage, Uncle Luke, John Witherspoon, Melissa DeSousa, Kellie Williams and Dartanyan Edmonds. We all vibed. No egos. We respected what we were bringing to scenes and that's how you shoot a movie. The. chemistry was incredible and it made the set fun.
One of the most FUN set I was ever one. Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, Bernie Mac, Anthony Anderson, Miguel Nunez, Michael "Bear" Talifero, and more. We kept each other laughing while saying professional. The script was the script but Eddie. told the director, Ted Demme to let us be free. That's why this is a classic.
Michael Douglas, Sean Bean, and Britany Murphy wow. I LOVE DRAMA. But keep it in the scripts. I don't do drama in real life, but you give me a good villain role, I'm going into my dark side. Comedians are hurt people with dark sides, when tap into that, it's magic. I enjoyed this film.
What a great cast I worked with. John Cusack, Gene Hackman, dustin Hoffman, Jeremy Piven, Bill Nunn, Luis Guzman, Cliff Curtis, Jennifer Beals. This John Gresham story was shot in New Orleans and it was a beast of a time. Learned a lot from these actors that will live with me forever.
Guy got a chance to work with the great director Michael Bay as well as the Oscar Winner Cuba Gooding Jr. We shot this in Mexico and Hawaii. What a great shoot. It was a pleasure to work with Micheal.
The absolute worst time I ever had on any movie or TV set. I was handcuffed in this film. He was too respectful. I was not given the opportunity to shine. I played Miles the friend to Rob Schneider's character Marvin.
This was television but shoot on film. Working with the cast was the best and with Peter Warner the director even better. I wasn't their first choice for this role but ended up being the BEST choice. I LOVED this role.
"RIDE" was just that, a ride. A fun one. A location shoot which are always fun especially with the right cast. Shoot in Jacksonville, FL we battled hurricane season the whole shoot but we got it done and it was fun. Working with the homey "Cedric The Entertainer" and Millicent Shelton , the writer / director was super fun.
You have to keep your promises. I told the young man Brandon Morrison who wrote and directed the film that when he shot his movie I'd be there for him. Well he did, and I did. I blew the dust off the acting chops and was happy to keep my word. It was different role for me and I was glad I did it.
This was a horror film. First time doing one. I put on weight for this role. I had stopped acting and missed it. This was a chance to fire up the old acting chops again and see if I still loved it. Acting and I are in an abusive relationship. Sometimes we love each other some times we don't but the respect is always there.
This was a chance to play an another role to put in my arsenal of characters. This small budget film gave me a chance to play a doctor. To not be the villain, which I love playing, was a welcomed challenge. I want build a resume that versatile to avoid getting pigeon holed.
I took this role literally a day before I had to shoot. This was a character I was longing to play. It was so layered. He was a homeless, paraplegic, alcoholic. Man this was layered. I also did it for a friend and I got work with the great Isaiah Washington.
My brother Joe and I don't work together often, but this was a film had done with Brian Bosworth. I had a really cool role in this film. I play loud mouth little guy that ends up being disposed of by Michael Clarke Duncan .
I've been blessed by GOD, let's clarify, too have worked with some amazing actors. In this RUSS PARR film, I had the chance to work with KEVIN HART, RICHARD LAWSON and TAMI ANDERSON. This character was layered. I was a struggling, not too funny comic that had substance abuse, alcohol and daddy issues. I was nominated for BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR in the AMERICAN BLACK FILM FESTIVAL for this film. .
My frist sci-fi movie was dope. I got the chance to work along side SUPERMAN. DEAN CAIN. Dean and I used to play in the NBA ENTERTAINMENT LEAGUE tougher in LOS ANGELES and he'd also come to ST. LOUIS for my brother's charity game as well. DEAN was great to work with. His acting was smooth and effortless. We vibed well in our scenes and got to show our range as actors.
Independent film making can be fun. You usually have a little more freedom and creativity with your role than the big studio films. If it's role I'd like to tackle and they production has their shit together, let's play. I was nominated for BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR in the AMERICAN BLACK FILM FESTIVAL for this film as well. I also got a chance to work with my fellow comedians, JB SMOOTH and TALENT HARRIS.
REST IN PEACE to the GREAT RAY LIOTA. What an incredible actor. My whole career, GOD paired me up with great artists. RAY was more than a seasoned pro, he was magnificent. He was one who showed up prepared and ready to work. Also got to work with other great talent. MEKHI PHIFER, CHIWETEL EDJIOFOR, TAYE DIGGS and LL COOL J.
This film was a FARCE and incredibly funny. The blessings kept coming with me working with great talent. Comedy LEGEND, CHEVY CHASE starred along side the talent PENELOPE ANN MILLER, ARMAND ASSANTE, CHRIS MCDONALD, ROBERT LOGGIA, REBECCA WISOCY, KEVIN SUSSMAN, and ALEX MENESSES and many more. This project was a party.
I have decided to take a break from acting unless there is a role that I can't refuse. Love the craft and the art , I just don't love the business side of it. I know it's a necessary evil and I respect the art to the fullest. . I'll return soon and when I do, look out
